The AO Trauma World Meeting's second pilot, held in Madrid from April 28 to May 1, has come to a successful close. Following the well-received first pilot event, held in 2018, the Madrid session received outstanding evaluations from both participants and faculty.

In addition to five outstanding courses based on the best-in-class curriculum and chaired by expert faculty and focusing on wet lab sessions, AO Trauma and the AO Education Institute offered a variety of appealing informal networking opportunities. These gave attendees the chance to talk to AO staff, colleagues, and faculty.

“Based on the success of the two events, the AO Trauma Education Commission is pleased to officially announce the start of the full AO Trauma world meeting next year in Madrid from April 19 to April 22, 2020”

Mini-discussion sessions with the authors of the latest AO Trauma publication "Manual of Fracture Management—Wrist" and of the soon to be published "Manual of Fracture Management-Foot and Ankle," were also held. Douglas A Campbell, Fiesky Nuñez, Stefan Rammelt, and Mandeep Dhillon discussed the content of these two books with participants and shared insights into the process of their creation.

These two pilot events, characterized by a warm, collegial atmosphere, offered AO Trauma a valuable opportunity to refine the approach to this new concept ahead of its formal and full roll-out.

"Based on the success of the two events, the AO Trauma Education Commission is pleased to officially announce the start of the full AO Trauma world meeting next year in Madrid from April 19 to April 22, 2020" said Wa'el Taha, AO Trauma Education Commission Chairperson.
“The courses will have a new format with extensive opportunities for lab training. We have chosen some of our best faculty to chair and run this epic event”

AO Trauma is looking forward to being able to bring this new approach to the community and sees it as essential in cementing its reputation for educational excellence and responsiveness to the needs voiced by its members. "The courses will have a new format with extensive opportunities for lab training. We have chosen some of our best faculty to chair and run this epic event and look forward to having an outstanding AO Trauma meeting that will complement our flagship event the AO Davos Courses” added Taha.
