AO Trauma launches the Basic Principles online course pilot
The new, innovative online course format takes education to the next level

AO Trauma Online Course—Basic Principles of Fracture Management Essentials pilot starts June 5, 2020.
AO Trauma is proud to announce the first AO Trauma Online Course—Basic Principles of Fracture Management Essentials, continuing the AO's tradition of innovative educational offerings.
Understanding that residents’ education is fundamental to achieving the AO's mission of improving patient care and in response to the shortage of face-to-face events due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, AO Trauma has developed an online course that allows residents to:
Acquire the entire curricular knowledge of the Basic Principles course.
Develop procedural knowledge using Touch Surgery modules for practical exercises.
Follow the sequencing of the course in a controlled and guided pathway through the Learning Management System (LMS).
Highest learning quality is guaranteed thanks to AO Trauma's best-in-class curriculum, and its international faculty guiding participants through the course.
This online course does not replace the traditional face-to-face Basic Principles course but provides mainly the knowledge component of the curriculum.
The self-paced four-week course pilot starts with pre-invited participants and will be closely monitored and evaluated by the members of the AO Trauma residents education taskforce.
The new online Basic Principles course will be rolled out to the global community soon to help surgeons to learn and enhance their skills during this “new normal” and beyond.
