The AO Trauma Middle East and Northern Africa Regional Courses, scheduled for October 3–5, 2020 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (AE), are now open for registration.
The AO Trauma regional courses in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (AE) have proven to be an outstanding event.
This year, as with so many other AO Trauma educational events, the COVID-19 pandemic affected the event. However, AO Trauma Middle East and Northern Africa is pleased to announce a hybrid offering of both the well-known, established face-to-face, on-site events and additional new online courses from October 3–5, 2020.
The well-being of the AO Trauma community is paramount, and all on-site activities will be carried out with all necessary precautions to minimize avoidable risks to course participants, as well as AO members, partners, exhibitors, and employees.

AO Trauma Regional Course—Basic Principles of Fracture Management
The AO Trauma Course—Basic Principles of Fracture Management teaches fundamental principles and current concepts in the treatment of injuries, incorporating the latest techniques in operative fracture management.
The AO Trauma basic principles course is the initial step along the path of lifelong learning in the area of operative fracture management and the main focus of this course lies in the basic principles of fracture management.
AO Trauma Regional Course—Advanced Principles of Fracture Management
The AO Trauma Course—Advanced Principles of Fracture Management builds upon the AO principles and techniques learned in the AO Trauma basic principles course and focuses on the principles and techniques of operative fracture management in more complex injuries.
It is targeted at surgeons at the threshold of becoming independent surgeons and taking over decision-making responsibility for the treatment of complex injuries.
Participants must have already completed the AO Trauma Course—Basic Principles of Fracture Management and must be actively involved in trauma management.
AO Trauma Regional Masters Course—Foot and Ankle (online)
The AO Trauma Regional Masters Course—Foot and Ankle covers the current concepts and techniques on how to recognize, characterize, and treat complex injuries and deformities of the foot and ankle.
The course is targeted to specialized orthopedic surgeons interested in advancing their expertise in the management of foot and ankle injuries and pathological conditions. Participants must have completed the AO Trauma Course—Advanced Principles of Fracture Management.
AO Trauma Regional Masters Course—Knee (online)
The goal of this course is to present a broad perspective about the knee joint, aiming to understand the knee as an organ, consisting of specialized tissues that should work in a synergic way to promote optimal function.
The concept is to integrate existing knowledge in the areas of orthopedic trauma and deformity correction around the knee joint to determine solutions for patient care.
The focus is on delivering a set of principles that may guide surgeons on how to make decisions while dealing with knee injuries and deformities.The state-of-the-art in diagnosis, planning, and management of complex injuries and their complications will be addressed by a group of very experienced colleagues.
AO Trauma Regional Masters Course—Shoulder (online)
Participants will learn the current management of patient pain, dysfunction, deformity, and cosmesis related to trauma of the shoulder. Fractures from the sternoclavicular joint to the humeral shaft will be covered as well as joint injuries and dislocations and soft tissue injuries (the acute trauma phase and the posttraumatic sequelae such as malunion, nonunion, infection, etc).
Participants should have completed the AO Trauma Course—Advanced Principles of Fracture Management.
