AO Trauma Online Course—Basic Principles of Fracture Management Essentials
Save your seat at one of the sought-after online courses
22 April 2021
In 2020, AO Trauma successfully launched the Basic Principles of Fracture Management Essentials online course, engaging participants from all over the world. To meet the high demand for this offering, we are happy to announce the 2021 dates of this expert-moderated, self-study course.
One of the big advantages of this innovative format is—in the absence of face-to-face (F2F) events—that participants can learn the basic principles of fracture management at their own pace by watching recorded lectures and practical exercise videos. In addition, they go through several "Touch Surgery" 2D simulation modules to develop and improve their procedural knowledge.
International faculty experts moderate the online course closely. Besides posting challenging cases for discussion they answer participant's questions in the discussion forum and ensure a lively exchange amongst participants and faculty.
To date, more than 300 learners have already completed the first two courses and rated it very positively. In an anonymous post course survey, participants commented: "I really enjoyed this virtual course and look forward to attending the F2F course."
"The course was right on the point and is a comfortable way to learn", and "I highly appreciated getting exposure to international faculty and participants."
The course is divided into seven sequential modules. Each module consists of lectures, discussions, practical exercise videos and simulations. The course can be completed over a period of four weeks.
This online course serves as preparation for and does not replace the traditional F2F Basic Principles course. It gives residents the opportunity to gain insights into the principles of fracture care as well as provides the knowledge component of the curriculum. Participants are encouraged to attend the F2F course as a follow up event to refresh their knowledge and add the skills and attitudes component to their competencies.
