Now is the time to register for a highly relevant slate of AOTrauma Middle East and Northern Africa (AOTMENA) Regional Courses, to take place October 11–15 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The regional courses have become established as key educational events and, as AOTMENA celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, they continue to represent a golden opportunity for participants to take their skills to the next level.
AOTrauma Masters Course—Hand and Wrist
(with anatomical specimens)
This masters-level course is targeted to surgeons at the threshold of becoming independent as well as surgeons taking over decision-making responsibility for the treatment of hand and wrist injuries. Course participants will practice some of the most common hand and wrist approaches in order to become familiar with selected surgical approaches and to develop their understanding of hand and wrist anatomy.
Participants must have already completed the AOTrauma Course—Advanced Principles of Fracture Management and be actively involved in trauma management.
AOTrauma Regional Course—Advanced Principles of Fracture Management
The course will focus on biological principles of operative techniques offering alternative methods while emphasizing minimally invasive surgery whenever possible. Advanced techniques using locking compression plates and latest-generation intramedullary nails will be explored and corresponding practicals will reinforce application of these techniques. Management of complex articular and metaphyseal fractures and reconstructive orthopedics, including the management of pelvic and acetabular fractures, will be addressed.
Participants must have already completed the AOTrauma Course—Basic Principles of Fracture Management and be actively involved in trauma management.
AOTrauma Regional Course—Basic Principles of Fracture Management
The course teaches fundamental principles and current concepts in the treatment of injuries, incorporating the latest techniques in operative fracture management. This course, which is the initial step along the path of lifelong learning in the area of operative fracture management, focuses primarily on the basic principles of fracture management.
AOTrauma Regional Masters Course—Lower Extremity

Participants in this masters-level course will increase their knowledge and skills in the management of difficult and complex cases. State-of-the-art techniques and approaches, best practices for treatment, and the management of lower extremity fractures will all be addressed at a high level.
Participants must have completed the AOTrauma Basic Principles and Advanced Principles courses. They must be actively involved in orthopedic trauma management.
AOTrauma Regional Course—Advanced Principles of Fracture Management for ORP
The advanced-level course for operating room personnel (ORP) is based on current trends and concepts. The course will focus on the surgical treatment and intraoperative nursing care of complex fractures.
AOTrauma/AORecon Course—Comprehensive Periprosthetic Fracture Management of the Hip and Knee
AORecon Course—Complex Total Hip and Knee Arthroplasty

This advanced level course teaches current concepts in the treatment of patients with a need for revision or complex primary arthroplasty in the hip and knee. The training comprises seven modules of multiple topics including lectures, case discussions and practical exercises. It is targeted at certified, experienced orthopedic surgeons.
